Sometimes, completing a DBS application form can be a bit daunting. Do you understand the eligibility criteria, levels of checks and your organisation’s safeguarding responsibilities?
Wouldn’t it be great to hear straight from the horse’s mouth about DBS – how it works, understanding the barring process and how to get support?
It’s now possible to have your questions answered directly by the Disclosure and Barring Service’s (DBS) Regional Safeguarding Outreach service which aims to work with local authorities, organisations and networks to develop relationships and raise awareness of DBS as a safeguarding body.
Meet your Regional Safeguarding Outreach Officer at this workshop which will give you a chance to ask questions about DBS and gain a greater understanding about safeguarding.
The workshop will cover:
• Outlining the role of the Disclosure and Barring Service
• Understanding DBS checks and role eligibility, including levels of check and workforce
• How ‘regulated activity’ with children and adults is defined and what this means in practice
• An organisation’s duties and responsibilities in regards to referring to the DBS
• Understand the DBS barring process and the consequences of being placed on one or both barred lists
• How to get support from DBS.
The workshop lasts 1 hour plus there will be an opportunity at the end for a Q&A.
