May 2025

Hello everyone
The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and as we venture into the communities we support, we’re thrilled to meet volunteers - both new and seasoned. In this edition, we highlight Volunteers' Week 2025 and Mental Health Awareness Week, while also exploring the pressure to meet business goals and control budgets, all without losing sight of what truly motivates volunteers. We also look at how organisations are addressing ongoing recruitment challenges.

Helping those who help others

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and as groups and organisations continue to experience unprecedented demand, those in a position to help need to be more aware of placing increasing pressure on staff and volunteers - many of whom are reporting rising levels of stress and poor mental health. Zurich explores how organisations can better support their teams through early recognition of mental health struggles, proactive self-care strategies, and training for managers to foster a safer, more supportive working environment.

You might be interested in our mental health and wellbeing training taking place in May and June too.
