Community Buildings and Parish Councils

Community First Yorkshire can offer community buildings and parish councils a variety of help – from support and advice to direct consultancy work or neighbourhood and community-led planning.

We host events throughout the year aimed at encouraging village halls, community centres, organisations and parish councils to network and co-operate with one another to reach mutual goals. This could be the collaborative sharing of ideas, initiatives, information or contacts. By participating in our networking events, you can get the best answer to your questions quickly and easily, directly from volunteers and organisations in the same boat.

Community Building Networks in North Yorkshire

Our Community Building Networks (open to all community run venues) are opportunities for those involved in running rural community buildings to get together, share their experiences and problems, hear about new resources and policy development, and explore topics of interest in more detail together. You do not initially need to be a member of Community First Yorkshire to attend, and you’re welcome to come along from outside the District if the date and venue happen to be convenient for you. Meetings are hosted by Network members and members also set the agenda. Community Building Networks currently operate in Hambleton, Ryedale, Richmondshire, Harrogate, Scarborough districts, plus our newest network in Selby.

If you would like to come to or host a Network meeting, or have an idea for an agenda item, please contact Leah Furniss and Joanne Abbott via email communitybuildings@communityfirstyorkshire.org.uk and or by calling 01904 704177.
