Support Volunteer

To provide support to people affected by encephalitis, their families and friends.

Description of tasks:

To complete the training programme delivered by The Encephalitis Society
To map sources of support available locally and/or nationally
To provide a listening ear to people affected by encephalitis and their families
To provide understanding and empathy of people’s problems following encephalitis
To provide information about encephalitis and its consequences
To signpost people to services and organisations which may help
To organise local opportunities for people to meet in order to learn about encephalitis and its consequences and share their experiences
To feedback and report details of referrals and clients exchanges to The Encephalitis Society on a regular basis

Skills or experience required?:

Qualities/skills sought:

Good telephone, internet and people skills
A good understanding of encephalitis and its implications
Willingness to develop through training
Good computer skills
Desire to help and support people affected, families and friends

You will require?: Criminal Record Check (DBS)
