We run practical conservation tasks in and around York (up to about 25 miles from York) every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the year between 9.00am & 4.30pm, and also on the last Sunday in every month. We are keen to welcome new volunteers to any session and you can join in as many or as few sessions as you like.
Our minibus provides transport to sites, so our volunteers meet at Tang Hall Community Centre where we are based at 9.00am or alternatively we also pick up from a layby on Paragon Street beside the Barbican Centre (next to the Co-op store) at 9.15am. If you have your own transport and prefer to meet us on site you are welcome to come for all or part of a day.
The group is a friendly mixed-ability group including students, retirees and some adults with autism or learning difficulties. More information about the group and the type of volunteer work we do is attached.
Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather conditions bearing in mind you will be outdoors for most of the day, wear strong footwear and bring a packed lunch and refillable water bottle. We provide any personal protective equipment needed and all tools, equipment and guidance. No knowledge or experience is necessary. We also provide drinking water and hot drinks. All tasks are fully supervised, risk assessed and have first aid cover.
None, just enthusiasm and a passion for working outdoors and the environment.
