Fundraising and Events Coordinator

Founded in 2005 Yorkshire Yoga is a small, well-established health and wellbeing charity based in Knaresborough. We provide a variety of high-quality exercise, therapy and well-being activities from our fully accessible studio and across our community via outreach projects. We believe the benefits of Yoga, Wellbeing and Mindfulness should be available to all; irrespective of abilities, situation or finances when people need help the most. We work hard to address health inequalities and improve the everyday lives of our patrons and provide an opportunity to build friendships, support networks and a community with like-minded people.

Yorkshire Yoga and Therapy Centre is looking for a volunteer to support the CEO with ongoing fundraising and events plans in order to raise income and awareness of the centre throughout 2020/2021. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and committed team player who can work independently to pursue a range of funding opportunities such as Trusts and Foundations and who can also arrange a series of regular events, fundraisers and activities to generate income.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:
IT skills and Office experience is essential
This role is ideal for those wanting to play an active role in their local community
Experience of organising writing funding bids is desirable
Experience organising events, publicity and press releases and event management is desirable
The role will be working remotely therefore you will need to be able to keep accurate financial records to ensure that all fundraising activities are undertaken in a cost effective and transparent manner.

Practical information:
The role will be predominantly home-based. The volunteer position is for 1-2 days per week, with additional days to attend events. We would ideally like for someone to commit to a minimum of a 3 month period initially. Regular meetings with the CEO and/or the board will take place either via Zoom or in-person at our busy purpose-built studio in Halfpenny Close, which is conveniently located 10 minutes away from Knaresborough Bus Station and connected by the 1C regular bus route. Car parking is available.
