Marketing and Social Media Volunteer
Founded in 2005 Yorkshire Yoga is a small, well-established health and wellbeing charity based in Knaresborough. We provide a variety of high-quality exercise, therapy and well-being activities from our fully accessible studio and across our community via outreach projects. We believe the benefits of Yoga, Wellbeing and Mindfulness should be available to all; irrespective of abilities, situation or finances when people need help the most. We work hard to address health inequalities and improve the everyday lives of our patrons and provide an opportunity to build friendships, support networks and a community with like-minded people.
The role of the Marketing and Social Media Volunteer(s) will be to assist the CEO in defining a new Marketing and Social Media Strategy which better promotes the centre’s activities, fundraising initiatives and events and which raises brand awareness. You will be expected to partake in brainstorming sessions and marketing meetings with the aim of setting strategies and objectives to improve the organisation’s website and social media presence. You will increase engagement with local people via social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin via Hootsuite and provide the team with assistance in updating social media platforms by interacting with interesting posts to increase followers; maintain existing followers as well as better promoting the centre’s events and activities to extend the reach into the community raising awareness and income.
Skills and qualities needed for the role:
Has some experience of Marketing and Social Media either through education, work or volunteering
Has experience of using social media, such as Facebook, Instagtam, Linkedin and Twitter and knows how to grow followers
Can write clear, concise and accurate copy for website, PR, Marketing and Social Media publications
Can be flexible with their time to update social media channels daily
Have strong written and verbal skills
Have experience of using Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop (desirable not essential)
Be organised and have good attention to detail
Be an excellent communicator
Be proactive with an enthusiastic attitude
Be able to work remotely independently, however working in a cross-functional team
The role will be predominantly home-based. The volunteer position is for 1-2 hours per day or 1 day per week for a minimum period of 3 months. Regular meetings with the CEO and/or the board will take place either via Zoom or in-person at our busy purpose-built studio in Halfpenny Close, which is conveniently located 10 minutes away from Knaresborough Bus Station and connected by the 1C regular bus route. Car parking is available.
