Nature Reserves Warden- Scarborough Area

Do you enjoy being outside and taking an active interest in your local nature reserves?
We want your help to keep our nature reserves in the Scarborough area a fab place to visit and we’re looking for someone who has great community spirit.
Our north east reserves are spread across a wide geographic area. Whilst still fantastic for wildlife, our reserves in Scarborough area are less rural and closer to areas of higher population density than in Ryedale and Hambleton. As they receive higher volumes of foot traffic management issues vary. These include more regular monitoring of antisocial behaviour, littering and carrying out minor repairs. Having extra eyes and ears on the ground to report back and alert us to early signs of problems and the ability to really engage with the community, by speaking to local people to understand current issues is key to engaging with our visitors here to ensure they are listened to. Your help will allow us to better do this.

Skills or experience required?:

• Physically fit and able to visit the reserve; often sites are muddy with uneven ground.
• You’ll be friendly, approachable, and polite to visitors and have the ability to deal with occasional challenging situations.
• Ability to carry out minor repairs is highly desirable as is local knowledge.
