Costume Interpreters...to bring Wensleydale Railway's visitors roaring back to life in the 1920s
The Wensleydale Railway has received lottery funding to renovate the Leeming Bar Station House into a living museum and education centre. We're taking our visitors back to 1925 and we need people who love a bit of live-action drama and dressing up in period costume to send our visitors on a journey through time in the Station House. Help us make the heritage experience real by greeting our visitors in the kitchen, the Station Master's Parlour, the Post Room, the Ticket Office, the Waiting Room and the Wash Room. We're also looking for those who can interview older people with long memories for our Reminiscence project.
We will offer full training but if you can bring a flair for pubic-facing roles, a bit of acting talent, and an interest in this period of history, then you'll be making a great start. You might be wanting to add skills in speaking to the public, helping children learn, or platforming your thespian abilities for a Further Education application or to boost a CV, or you might just enjoy being part of a lively, like-minded team. It would also be a great opportunity to learn skills for working with Early Years or Key Stages 1 and 2 (for childcare or teaching) or with older people (for social care). For those interested in Reminiscence, people-facing skills or some experience with dementia patients might be something we can learn from you.
