Sensory Services Team: Outreach Van Driver

The Yorsensory Team's Outreach Mobile Unit is an extension of our sight and hearing loss information and support services. The Outreach Mobile Unit enables the Trust to provide Yorsensory services, including sight and hearing assessments, to communities around York and North Yorkshire. At the heart of the Yorsensory Outreach Mobile Unit Service is a desire to work with partners and offer services to communities, who may find it difficult to access services.
We are looking for volunteers to drive the Outreach Van to areas in York and North Yorkshire who will; ensure safety standards are met, assist with setting up the van for working with the public and be prepared to explain the purpose of the van if approached by member of the public; communicate with members of the public about the Yorsensory Team's services; and remain with the van during visits.
This role enables the organisation to reach more people, including hard to reach communities and rural locations, and provide important information and support regarding sight and hearing loss in the places which people live. It also raises the profile of the Trust and the work which we do.
What special qualities do I need to be a volunteer?
Some spare time
An open and friendly nature
Patience
Adaptability
Good communication skills
Reasonably active
A sense of humour
Full driving license with category B addition

How much time will I need to give?

Upcoming dates can be discussed and agreed upon with the Yorsensory Team in advance, we just ask that if you are unable to make a commitment, that you let the team know as soon as possible so alernative arrangements can be made.
