Community Connector - Volunteer Role

Time commitment: Around 3 - 7 hours per week during standard working hours (Monday – Friday 9 am -5 pm)

Minimum commitment: One year

Do you enjoy bringing people together? Are you determined, creative and have a few hours a week to spare?

IDAS are looking for a volunteer ‘Community Connector’ to assist with connecting our local teams to their community, identifying opportunities, raising awareness, and reducing the barriers for people who need support. This will include coordinating new and existing IDAS Champions.

Champions are volunteers who give a little of their time to help increase awareness of the support available for victims and survivors of domestic abuse in their place of work or community. Community Connectors will help to bring Champions together and encourage them to take small actions to make a big difference locally.

Community Connectors can:
• Meet regularly with the Local Area Manager (LAM) to agree on activities and explore ideas.
• Seek out opportunities for raising awareness of IDAS services in the community. This could include:
 Distributing posters and leaflets to support champions.
 Stands at events or in hospitals, council buildings etc.
 Contacting local businesses.
• Assist the Local Area Team with engagement events both on and off-line.
• Assist with developing the network of IDAS Champions in the area.
• Communicate with local Champions, bring them together and encourage them to take action locally.

Skills or experience required?:

• Positive communications skills
• Reliability and dedication
• Good IT skills
• Able to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Organisation and planning

This role is ideal for someone who would like to improve their communication skills and demonstrate their ability motivate a team of volunteer champions.
