Volunteer Room Guide

Castle Howard is a stately home in North Yorkshire. Alongside being visited by over 250,000 people a year, the House has been regularly featured on film and television, most recently featuring in the Netflix show Bridgerton.

Room guides have a vital role to play in the daily operations of Castle Howard. Their role involves providing a warm welcome to visitors as they make their way around the House, inspiring them with the historical collections and sharing Castle Howard’s extraordinary story.

Room Guides are to be positioned around the House in key rooms, engaging with visitors to enable them to experience the room and learn about the collections held within.

Room Guides also play an essential role in safeguarding the collections and artefacts.

Room Guides do not need to be a ‘history buff’ as this role focusses on engaging enthusiastically with visitors from all walks of life, telling the narrative of the House and Gardens and contributing to an exceptional visitor experience.
