Skipton Step into Action
Driven by the compassion of local people to support others at a time of unprecedented uncertainty, Skipton Step into Action (SSIA) was formed on the 12th March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, primarily offering support with shopping and prescription collection and delivery to elderly and vulnerable people in our Community.
SSIA is an informal, dynamic and responsive community-led group, run by local people for local people and operates in the South Craven District (Skipton and 10 surrounding villages).
Today, SSIA has evolved with the changing needs of our community i.e offering befriending opportunities to enhance health and wellbeing including; Walk and Talk, Nature-based activities (Mindfulness, Yoga and Gardening), and visits to the National Park. This has seen us grow, develop and flourish, registering as a Charity in January 2021 and appointed as a Community Support Organisation in April 2021.
We encourage and facilitate our communities to connect, collaborate and develop solutions together, building strong partnerships to help people reconnect and realise their potential. Our priorities fall into the following 3 areas:
- Health & Wellbeing
- Pandemic Recovery
- Volunteering
SSIA offer flexible volunteering opportunities and comprehensive training and development (as appropriate) to ensure our volunteers are skilled and equipped to fulfil their roles confidently.
