AbilityNet
Abilitynet exists to change the lives of disabled people by helping them to use digital technology at work, at home or in education. There are five strands to the services provided by the charity:
* Accessibility Services - where the charity has a team of specialists who work with digital teams in blue-companies such as Barclays, Lloyds Bank, The FA and Microsoft to design and maintain accessible websites, apps and other digital services.
* DSA/Students Services - where the charity's Assessors provide one-to-one advice and information to identify technology and other adjustment that will help them success in their education
* Expert Resources - we provide factsheets, blogs, webinars and videos about the many ways that technology can help individuals with disabilities
* Workplace Services - where the charity's Assessors carefully identify the mix of technologies and adaptions that enables a person living with a disability be more productive at work
* IT Support for Disabled and Older People at Home - our network of volunteers spread across the UK visit individuals in their home to assist with everyday IT needs. Our support ranges from:
- making tailored suggestions on hardware, software, and assistive technology to individual needs;
- helping installing and setup hardware and software;
- diagnosing problems, malfunctions, viruses, error messages;
- Improving confidence and ability with technology to ensure all the benefits of the digital work can be experienced
